2022 Running of the Bulls Information


Welcome to the 2nd Annual Saint Simons Island - Running of the Bulls Charity Redfish Tournament! Hosted by The Kids Can Fish Foundation, a 501 c3 charitable organization.

Your entry will greatly impact the life of youth anglers as portions of the tournament proceeds will benefit the Kids Can Fish Foundation.

Date: October 8th and 9th, 2022


Location: Coast Guard Station / East Beach

4100 First Street, St. Simons Island, GA 31522

Parking: 250 spaces are available at Coast Guard Beach and other public beach access points at first come/first serve. Overflow parking available at Massengale Park or at public beach access points. Please adhere to SSI parking restrictions and private property homeowners at your own risk.

Registration: Coast Guard Beach parking lot, 6:30 am on October 8th.

First Cast: 8:00 am daily

Lines In: 4:30 daily

Top 3 Adult Anglers will receive cash awards and other prizes based on tournament entries.

Top 3 Youth Anglers will receive a custom fishing rod provided by Batson Enterprises and Team Rainshadow, trophies, and other sponsor related prizes.

Additionally, the first 50 registered youth anglers will receive an exclusive subscription box sponsored by MONSTERBASS for FREE!

Cash and Youth prize pools will be announced by September 30th

$65 Adult Entry

$35 Youth (15 and younger)

Youth participants must be accompanied by an adult guardian.

$25 Calcutta: Determined by single Redfish with the most total spots from both sides. Tiebreaker will be determined by total length of the fish. In the event of a true tie, cash award is split among tied fish.

25% of the Calcutta pot will be applied as a donation to the Kids Can Fish Foundation.

Last years Calcutta winner received $810.


This is a rain or shine event.

*Entry fee refunds are only processed until September 8th. Refund is subject to a 20% service charge. All entries after September 9th are non-refundable.*


This is NOT a team event. Single anglers only unless assisting a youth angler.

Adult anglers must possess a current Georgia Saltwater Fishing License and abide by state fishing guidelines

2 rods per person maximum.

Live, frozen, and artificial baits are permitted. Cast netting for bait is permitted.

Qualifying fish are recorded by Catch, Photo, and safe release.


Tournament official must record each fish.

Fish are measured by total length.

Most spots determine tie breaker. Equal spots will result in a tie for place and cash prizes being compressed for lower placings (i.e. true tie for first share 1st and 2nd place earnings, etc).

Leaderboard updates will be provided via the tournament Facebook group.

Tournament zones must be adhered to and will be determined by participant numbers.

Boats, kayaks, and air deliver of bait is prohibited.

Only circle hooks can be used to promote clean hook set and safe release.


Youth anglers are encouraged to do most of the work.

Youth participants must be strictly monitored if entering the surf. It’s encouraged for youth anglers to remain in shallow waters and wear personal floatation devices.


Adults can cast for youth participant.

Adult can take fish off the hook and prepare for release.

Youth participant is encouraged to bait own hook,but can be assisted by the adult partner.

Adult partner can hold the rod at base, but youth participants must reel in the fish.

Fighting belts are permitted.


Tournament t-shirts will be available for pre-order. Adult and Youth shirts are $35.

Every angler who purchases a shirt will be entered into a contest to win a free Bull Bay Rods fishing pole. Must be present at awards ceremony to collect prize.

Tournament towels will be available for $10 each. Towels will be used for a photo contest for a free prize. Must be present at awards banquet to collect prize.

All anglers are entered to win the Tiny Bully award. Must be present at awards banquet to collect prize.


10/07 - Kickoff Party, 6:00 pm - 10:00 pm. Location: Port City Park. 1311 Newcastle Street, Brunswick, GA 31520.

10/08 - No scheduled Events, enjoy the island
